Cleaning ceramic tile floors regularly is important so that tracked-in dirt isn't able to build up and scratch through the protective sealant. Begin by removing loose dirt using a vacuum cleaner, a broom, or an oil-free dust mop. Then add an all-purpose floor cleaner - a supermarket own label brand is fine. Avoid products that contain natural waxes - you don't want to slip up later. The waxes can penetrate into the grout (the substance in the seams between the tiles) and cause it to discolour. Two rinses with clean water are recommended, because you need to remove any chemicals that could break down the sealant. When the water rinses clean, dry the floor with a clean, soft cloth.
